Yes. HPFD covers the cost of training for candidates who commit to volunteering with the department upon graduation.
The academy runs approximately 8–12 weeks depending on the curriculum track. Classes are held on weekends and select weekday evenings.
No prior firefighting experience is required. We welcome motivated community members who are ready to learn and serve.
Graduates earn Arizona Firefighter I & II certifications and CPR/First Aid credentials. Additional certifications are available through advanced tracks.
Training is conducted at HPFD Station 280, located at 15490 S. Mission Rd, Sahuarita, AZ 85629, with some evolutions at regional training facilities.
